Description: A Rare Art Deco Porcelain Figural Night Lamp "Sultan Prince with a Semi-Nude Harem Dancer" Hand Painted and Beautifully Modelled Limoges France – Circa 1930 On offer here is this very atmospheric Art Deco porcelain Limoges table lamp/night light finely hand painted and modelled as a scene from The Arabian Nights - that of an Arab Prince or Sultan loving embracing a semi nude Harem Dancer with Fan.A similar example appears in the book: "Deco Decor" Leslie A. Piña published by Schiffer, and is further mentioned and illustrated in the book: "Figural Perfume Lamps: Decorative and Functional Art of the 20th Century" by Christine C.Sanders, where it is suggested that the "well" at the base of the Sultan's cape forms a perfume/incense receptacle , which from the warmth of the lamp is then diffused into the atmosphere. The base of the lamp is marked in blue under the glaze with the legend: "Limoges - France" over which is hand painted a signature: "Sola", possibly that of the decorator. This is a wonderful accent piece and eye-catching both as a decorative figure and when lit. Condition ReportThis charming collectors item is in excellent, original condition with minimal signs of wear. The wiring has been renewed at some point and the lamp is therefore in working order. There are no losses, chips, cracks or repairs to report. 12.5 inches (32 cm) high x 5 inches (12.5 cm) wide.
