Description: This antique book titled "Animals in Costume" is a rare find from the mid-19th century. The hardcover cloth gilt book is written in English by W. P. Hazard and is a complete 1-6 1st edition.The year printed is estimated to be around the 1850s.It features a unique subject of anthropomorphism and is perfect for collectors of antiquarian and collectible books and is charming to read and see the wood cut illustrations. Publisher's brown cloth boards with gilt vignette on front cover, stamped in blind on rear board. Each story, 6 total, includes wrappers, eight woodcut illustrations and seven with verses. The main illustrations have a name of "Baker ..." something or another, I cannot make out the name and cannot find the name in my research. Cloth gilt cover is worn, dirty, a few closed tears to edges of pages, occasional foxing, soil and age toning but all pages are intact. For its age the condition is good in my humble opinion.
