Description: On offer is this rare Antique Japanese Mixed Metal walking stick. The handle is in the shape of a drum with a rooster. (a common Japanese theme) It also has an Oni (demon) mask on top and gold dragons on each end of the drum. What impressed me most is that the handle is completely metal but the sides are made to look like wood. This is done in the patination of the bronze. The cane is a bit over 35 inches and is the handle detatches from the stick which isn’t intended I am sure. It dates to the late Meiji period, probably 1800’s. The stick is a very nice wood. There are a couple of dings and scratches on the wood as you would expect and there is a dark spot on the drum where someone would have held the cane. I will leave it to the new owner to mount the handle permanently to the stick. Please see the photos as part of the description. Payment Please remit promptly, via PayPal.
