Description: Up for Buy it Now or Best Offer is a rare, superclean 1950s Gubelin "cioccolatone" automatic date men's wristwatch in a large 80 micron gold plaque case with a stainless steel snap back. This model has been nicknamed "cioccolatone" by collectors for its resemblance to a square piece of chocolate. The watch features an original perfect champagne color dial with square and double oblong gold indices, a date window with a red date wheel, fancy gold hour and minute hands, a red sweep second hand, and the words Gubelin, Swiss; with the Gubelin hourglass logo in gold. The factory movement for this model is the superclean Swiss 30-jewel Felsa 692 Bidynator automatic movement operating at 18,000 A/h. It is running well and sets and winds correctly. The date window works perfectly. The service history is unknown. The square heavy 80 micron gold plaque case is in excellent condition and features fancy lugs. The case measures 35mm wide including the gold crown and 43.65mm tall. The stainless steel snap back is signed Gubelin and has been polished. The crystal is very clean, and the new Champion strap is black calf with a gold buckle. Gubelin is a world famous jeweler founded in 1854 in Lucerne, Switzerland, known for selling Pateks and other high end timepieces.
