Description: For your consideration is a Rare and wonderful, 1880’s McLoughlin Brothers complete set of "Transformation Cubes" Picture Blocks titled “Comic Cubes”. This set of chromolithograph paper over wood blocks are housed in their original paper over wood case which measures approx. 5 1/4” by 7 1/2” by 2 1/2" tall. There are 6 wooden blocks in the Set which each measure approximately 2 1/4” on all sides and can be arranged to form over seventeen hundred comical figures. When assembled to the correct image some of them are following characters : An Native Indian, a bird, a “safari” gentleman, young lady, Victorian lady, African American male, sailor boy, African American girl, native woman, man with turbine, cat, monkey. Each of these figures use three of the six blocks but any of the blocks can be rotated to create "crazy characters". The blocks themselves are in good shape.
