Description: Hello. This is Mary, Mary Quite Contrary made by the famous doll artist R. John Wright. Mary Mary was a Limited Edition of 100 dolls made exclusively for Dolly Dears doll shop of Birmingham, Alabama. We were the original buyers of this doll direct from Dolly Dears in the year 1992. This Mary is number 40 out of total edition size of 100, so she is very rare. This is one of the early RJW dolls in what he called the "Nursery Rhyme Series". When you consider this doll is now 22 years old, she is still in excellent condition. We have probably had this doll on display for just two weeks during these 22 years, and otherwise, she's been resting in her original box with all the papers and tags of R. John Wright. Even the rake has been done with usual RJW attention to detail and design. Mary Mary is a great, gorgeous looking doll and please look carefully at the photos and you will see that she is in excellent condition. This RJW doll has been stored in smoke free, air conditioned homes ever since purchase. The Toy Shoppe in Virginia is showing one Mary Mary for price of $2195 as of April 8, 2023.
