Description: Maryland flag crab mini-quilt, approximately 14” x 14”. The plan was to make a big colorful crab and applique it into a black background, an idea I saw displayed in The Crabby Quilter fabric shop in Annapolis, Maryland. Then, my friend Suzy gave me the idea of using Maryland flag fabric. I knew that would be right, and as I waited anxiously for the flag fabric to arrive, I designed a crab template from images of blue crabs. When the fabric arrived, I carefully cut out this adorable crab and fused it into a black cotton background. I added batting and a backing, then quilted them all together using a free motion ocean wave design. The edge binding was attached by hand in the traditional manner. This wall hanging seriously takes ten seconds to hang with two strong tacks (included) and a wooden dowel (included).
