Please see pictures History of Cooks Goldblume Cooks Goldblume has a rich history. It took about $330 in order for Frederick Washington Cook to build his City Brewery. He and his stepfather Jacob Rice ran the business together. They rebuilt the brewery in 1858, and it included a malt house and a large lagering cellar. Before they took over, the previous brewery was only producing ale. Under F.W. Cook, the brewery became famous for its Pilsener Beer. After his stepfather had died in 1885, F.W. Cook inherited the entire business and renamed it FW Cook Brewing Company. Upon his death, his son Henry took over. After Henry Cook had died, his brother Charles Cook took over. In 1935 and 1936, the company sponsored a semi-pro baseball team known as Cook’s Goldblumes. In 1957, the original factory ceased production although the Goldblume brand was still brewed in other locations until 1972. It was later revived for nearly a decade by the Evansville Brewery.
