Description: I call this one of a kind creation “Purple Peacock” Shimmering hues of transparent light and darker purple amethyst blend beautifully with silvery purple freshwater pearls as the strand drops down to a beautiful striped purple agate oval pendant dangling with a Bali Sterling Silver peacock feather design. The necklace is approximate 18 inches in length and the pendant drops about 2.25 inches down. The overall dimensions of just the stone pendant are approximately 1.5"x1-1/8" x1/4" The findings are all Sterling silver and it is finished with an easy Sterling Silver Balloon clasp. About the components of this piece: Amethyst~ Amethyst has been a popular stone since Pre-Roman times due to its beautiful color ranging from pale to vivid dark violet and some have a nice red secondary color. Amethyst can range between transparent to opaque, but always has a remarkable shiny luster. Amethyst gets its name from the Greeks and means "not drunken." This is probably due to the notion that Amethyst could cancel out the effects of alcohol. Amethyst is the most prized form of quartz and has tiny amounts of iron and aluminum in its chemical make-up to give it is beautiful and sometimes intense purple color. Metaphysical Properties: Amethyst is said to be natures tranquilizer, as it promotes peacefulness through calming of the mind and the body. Pearls~Freshwater Pearls are cultured in a similar fashion to naturally occurring Salt Water Pearls. Salt water pearls form when an irritant enters an oyster, creating irritation. The oyster's natural defense is to coat the irritant with nacre is uses for shell building. The nacre is coated layer upon layer until a pearl is formed. Cultured freshwater pearls are formed in a similar fashion, except man places the irritant into a freshwater mussel and the muscle coats the irritant with nacre until a freshwater pearl is formed. Freshwater pearls are unique in that the shape of the original irritant placed into the mussel can manipulate their final shapes. When the freshwater pearls reach the desired shape and size they are harvested, drilled, and often dyed to offer a wide range of colors. Pearls signifies faith, charity, and innocence, enhances personal integrity, and helps to provide focus to ones attention. The pearl has been known as a "stone of sincerity", bring truth to situations and loyalty to a "cause". It has been used to inhibit boisterous behavior, and to provide a reflection of the self such that one may see the manner in which one appears to others. Agate~ Agate is a form of crystallized quartz with beautiful banding or branching and ranges in clarity from transparent to opaque. It is a very diverse stone, coming in a wide range of beautiful colors and is sometimes dyed to vividly enhance its beauty. It has the same chemical composition as bloodstone, jasper and tigers eye to name a few. Agate has been used in jewelry making since the time of the Stone Age.
