Description: Circa 1820-50 Scandinavian Finnish Folk Art horse, hand carved, original paint and mane. 14” tall by 16” wide by 3.5”. Wear commensurate with age, one leg and hoof are later (1910-20’s) replacements. Has nail head eyes and a horsehair mane. Tin letters R and T are embedded on front neck, possibly for the maker or the owner. This is probably the best folk art horse I have ever seen. The detail in the shape of the snout, his muscular body, the indented hooves, he’s spectacular. He has been well loved over the centuries. Please email any questions prior to bidding. Photos are part of the description so please review carefully.
