Description: Untitled Document Gallery Store Arizona Beaver Tail Highlights Electric neon flowers of bright magentaSoft looking blue/green padsCompact growth habitHardy in cold and heat I am selling pads off my Beaver Tail Prickly Pear plants. This is a very heat tolerant and cold tolerant prickly pear species (Opuntia basilaris). It will tolerate any high temperature and will survive freezes down to 10 degrees Fahrenheit. It is native to the Sonoran and Mojave deserts. The plant growth habit is approximately 1 foot high by 3 feet wide and a clump this size can have hundreds of pads. Pads average 8 x 10 in size when mature. I will be sending a fresh cut, healthy and robust pad from a healthy parent plant. Each pad is different but you can expect it to be in the 4 inch x 6 inch range. The hardiness is exceptional and the growth rate is slow. The flowers are the most eye-popping nearly neon electric magenta. The blooming period is mainly in the spring. The pads are a very distinctive blue gray and make outstanding accenting to my cactus garden. I personally find them very pretty. In the colder latitudes I would maintain this in a greenhouse as a potted plant. In that case it will not reach the size of the ones on my land. Over watering will be the main issue, especially in the winter if it cannot dry out quickly. Most out of state folks I know water the cactus when they see in weather reports that Southern Arizona has received ran. There are more details for growing these. I would suggest you refer to YouTube as there are short and very good instructive videos on successful growth. Please use common sense when taking this out of the package. Do it out of the house. Wash the pad to remove any glochids that may have jarred loose and use salad tongs for handling. If the weather is too cold in your area, I will be attaching a label instructing the postman not to leave it in a mail box, which may require you to pick it up at the post office. But it's all for the good of the plant, right? If there is a point I did not cover, feel free to contact me. RETURNS Yes - Please see details SHIPPING Included in price of the pad PAYMENTS Variety
