Description: ICEL Seaman's Jacknife, Large-Frame, Vintage: Portugal is known for its seafaring heritage, having explored, discovered, mapped, settled and exploited much of the world from the fifteenth century through the 1960s. As sailors, they developed and used basic and even advanced tools for navigation and simple boatsman-ship. This rope knife is one of the latter. This quote is from a Google search: "Icel knives are known world wide for outstanding quality! White handle pocket knives from Icel have been a Commercial Fishermen's favorite for years!" Well, apparently they also made knives with black handles, too. It has a large frame as referenced in the specifics list above, curiously made of steel not brass. Perhaps these "rough-use" tools weren't expected to endure the salt air more than a few years. (This knife doesn't seem to have endured a salt environment; no rust or pitting anywhere.) Blade has prominent shallow scratches (I like to think of them as "battle scars") and has had little sharpening, showing about 98% of original height. Steel pins hold the frame solid and square; nickel-steel bolsters reinforce the pivot end which has no wobble at all. Spring is intact giving the blade alligator-like walk and talk. Keep your fingers out of the way when closing. Cavity is clean and blade is centered. The knife is worthy of a maritime display or as a prized EDC tool. There's a long life ahead of this cutter. Mailing only to USA-48. Postage is usually between $5.00 and $6.26. Buyer pays $4.00, I will pay the rest. Please see my other knives and save postage. I am liquidating my entire collection; please keep me in your favorite sellers, watching for Old Bryan's Old Knives or the seller name below.
