Press Photo Williamsburg Virginia, scene of First Demonstration for Independence

Description:   Note: Please study the images carefully to determine the condition of this vintage photograph, as it may not be in perfect condition. It may contain wrinkles, cracks, and possibly even tears due to its age and how it was handled before it got to us. A scanner may interpret colors and contrast differently than human eyes will, so it is possible that the actual photograph may be slightly darker or lighter in person. This vintage photograph is offered for sale as a collectible item and conveys no transfer of copyright. Press Photo Williamsburg Virginia, scene of First Demonstration for Independence This is an original press photo. Williamsburg Virginia-Next week President Coolidge is to visit this quiet old Virginia Town-Williamsburg Va., the scene of the First Demonstration for Independence. It was here that the first strike for freedom from British oppression was made. Here it was too that the first liberty bell rang out, six weeks before the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia was sounded. Williamsburg Va., the cradle of the Republic is one of the first towns of country and served as the first capital of the United States. Here is also the old Livingston Theatre, built in 1716 and in which the first Shakespearean plays were presented in the United States. The old Bruton Church, from which rang out the first chimes of Liberty, still stands and daily the bell rings out, eve to the present time. The Bruton Church Bell is perhaps the most famous in the south, if not the entire country. In Williamsburg is the first American College, William and Mary College, second only in actual operation to Harvard, when President Coolidge visits Williamsburg will see the scene of American First Party.Photo measures 8 x 10.25inches. Q: Do you combine shipping and invoices? A: Multiple photos won on the same seller ID combine automatically through the eBay checkout process. If you encounter problems with this, send us a message via eBay messaging and we will send you an invoice. Due to eBay limitations, we cannot combine items won on our different seller IDs for a single shipping charge. Q: How quickly do you ship the items once paid? A: We ship within one business day after your payment clears. If you do not receive an "order shipped" email from us by the close of the second business day from submitting payment, please e-mail us via eBay messaging. Q: How do you make sure my photograph arrives safely? A: We package each order between two cross-corrugated pieces of cardboard to ensure that the package is as difficult to bend as possible. We then wrap each order in a plastic sheet to help protect against moisture. We want you to rest assured that we take every precaution to ensure that the photograph you receive will be in the same condition in your care as it was in ours. Q: Will the "Historic Images" watermark be on my photo when I receive it? A: No. This is a digital watermark we use to protect our images. It is not printed on the photo. Q: What are your office hours? A: eBay for us is a business, and a very fun one to be in! We are open M-F 9 to 5 (CST). Therefore, we do not return e-mails and phone calls over the weekend. We observe the following holidays: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. A: These original vintage photographs are from various news service and newspaper photo archives from locations around the country including: Boston, Detroit, Tampa, Chicago, Denver, Seattle, New Orleans, Milwaukee, Portland, Spokane, and more. We do not copy or reproduce any photographs -- every item is a unique vintage piece that was housed in a news archive. Q: Can I use this photograph in my book/blog/website? A: The short answer is no. There is no transfer of copyright for republication or reproduction with these photographs when you purchase them, and only photographs taken before 1923 are currently automatically in the public domain. Permission from the copyright holder, which usually can be identified from the back of each photo, must be sought to republish or reproduce the image for any purpose. A: Auction items that receive no bids are relisted in our store (historicimages-store on eBay) as a fixed-price item and at a higher price than the starting auction price. Q: Do you leave feedback? A: Yes, we always leave feedback for buyers. Our software monitors when our buyers leave us feedback, then notifies us that we can leave feedback for the buyer.
