Description: This Pre-WW2 1930s Italian Army M1891 Carcano Rifle Bayonet & Leather Scabbard is in very good, clean condition overall and only shows expected signs of age and service. The blade is marked "CR" on it's ricasso and this would appear to indicate production by Coltellerie Riunite sometime after World War 1. The crossguard is also marked a serial number. The blade has been sharpened and mild evidence of service is present, however no damage from abuse or neglect can be detected. A clean edge and point remain intact. The original wooden grips are in good condition and no serious damage can be detected however a previous owner has written their initials as well as drawing a small skull and crossbones in gold paint on each panel. These inscriptions are not immediately noticeable, could be removed and have been left exactly as they were found. The press stud on the pommel is free and appears to function as you would expect. The leather scabbard is in excellent, clean condition and is clearly marked "A.R.E.T. 1932" on it's backside. The black leather is strong and no stiffness or damage from dry rot can be found. The brass throat and ferule are securely attached without any detectable "play" or "wobble." The bayonet blade fits snuggly inside and is securely held in place.
