BACKGROUND: Well, there's no 1948 Mexican Eagle stamp, so most likely just after the war, when Mexican Modernism was already in full swing! To surmount wartime scrap availability, Mexican tallers like Ledesma and Los Castillos utilized "metales casados" (married metals) to extend resources while certainly jump-starting this popular 50s look in silver, brass and copper in a seamless sheet! DESCRIPTION: 1Here, predicting an iconic Castillos Angel Fish motif is a wonderful heavy-gauge Angel Fish set: a substantive pin/pendant combo and screqback earrings. Nicely curved, no sharp edges, eye-catching - every bit the mid-century sleekness Taxco and other regional smiths became famous for. Unique, eminently collectible and original. Simply marked "METALES CASADOS" on the verso, "Made In Mexico" on the pin/pendant. All silver is sterling; nice condition and well-kept (acquired from a notable Dallas collection). Pin is roughly 2" tall x 1-3/4" wide; earrings are 1" x 1". These ship from Dallas carefully, preferably domestically but please inquire prior to purchase about international packaging.
