Description: Cut on two sides, with a rounded natural crust side, unpolished ore specimen in a quartz granite ore with black crystals from the 1800s Ore Knob copper Mine in Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. 2 3/4" x 1 1/2" x 1 1/4" measurements from the longest point of the shape. Small gold spots noted scattered in the piece. Mixed precious metal ore. Last photos show filings setting in platinum testing acid for thirty minutes with no dissolving. Also note the black crystals on and in the granite type ore. Shipping options are available, Priority is recommended. Historic registered early US mining specimen. Old ore from deep within the Mountains of North Carolina. Some of the history can be found online. Filled shaft that no longer produces. Incorporated in the mid 1800s, the surrounding town history goes back further to the original settlement timeline. Only two images are known of the area in its last stages.
