On 1st July 1884 this was extended from Maidstone East to Ashford with intermediate stations opening at Bearsted, Hollingbourne, Harrietsham, Lenham and Charing on the same day. Hollingbourne station is at the top of a long approach road from Eyhorne Street and is quite a distance by foot from both Eyhorne and Hollingbourne. There are no houses nearby.
