Description: Photograph Notes: Bamse (a Norwegian word meaning "teddy bear") was a St Bernard who served on the Norwegian minesweeper, Thorodd, during World War Two. He was owned by Captain Erling Hafto of the Norwegian Navy who had Bamse registered as a crew member. Bamses passing away at Montrose docks in 1944 saw him buried with fully military honours, with his funeral being attended by hundreds.
