It is a mixed media with acrylic painting and color lithography on paper, entitled "Two Liberties, Flag, and Heart." It is part of a six-piece series from Peter Max, .....the Patriotic Series Suite! The art is hand signed by Peter Max in acrylic, and is a color lithograph that has been hand painted over. As a result of this process, each piece in the Patriotic Series Suite is a unique work...no two pieces have the same colors, and brush strokes applied in the same way. Peter Max (1937) was born in Berlin, Germany, traveled extensively in the world, and settled in the United States. He is a living legend as an artist, known for his use of bright and vibrant colors. He is asscociated with pop art, and is credited to have revolutionized the art of the 1960's with his "Cosmic 60's" style, and deeply influenced the American counter culture. On July 4, 1976, he began his statue of liberty series, leading to his effort with Lee Iacocca to help in the restoration of the Statue of Liberty. He has been the official artist of numerous events including the Super Bowl, World Dories, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the World Cup, the Grammy Awards, and more. Peter is recently noted for his 911 series of art, which he did after the 2001 attack on America. He followed that up with his Patriotic Series of art. He is truly a giant in the art world! The art is in excellent condition! The frame is in excellent condition also. The art is professionally framed and includes two linen white mats and a gold fillet. It also includes protective plexiglass. The frame is a large gold wooden frame. I have been the sole owner of this art and have never displayed it. It has been stored away from the light and looks as new as it did in 2006 when I purchased it. It comes with its original corner protection pieces of bubble wrap and cardboard. The dimensions of the framed 2006 piece are 33" X 29." The paper size is 18 15/16" X 14 15/16". Included with the art is a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) from Park West Gallery as well as a 2006 appraisal from Park West. The shipping charge for this piece includes insurance. Shipping is high because of the size and weight of the framed art. I will happily refund any difference between the calculated shipping charge and actual shipping charge to your location if shipping and packing is less than the listing calculated shipping estimate!
