Description: New York: Herder and Herder, 1970. 8vo, 186 p., original white cloth. First edition, first printing of this classic work on pedagogy by the Brazilian who devoted his life to educating children in his native country until he was forced into exile following that country's military coup in 1964. This is a VG copy with noticeable foxing and spotting to cloth on both panels and spine, light soiling to spine tips and board corners, and light soiling to page ends and faint smell of must to text block. Book is slightly cocked, with scattered pencil notations throughout, and fep misbound at rear, but in all a solid copy, in a loose fitting jacket with spotting to jacket verso, light soiling to both panels, with small closed tear to lower rear panel; red spine lettering lightly faded, but otherwise clean and bright with original price of $5.95 present, and now in mylar jacket protector. Very uncommon as a first. Please email any questions and thanks for looking!
