CANTALOUPE ISLAND This is a superb soundboard recording from the Pat Metheny Trio's "Question and Answer" tour. The time was 1992, and the performance was in Tokyo. The backing members, or rather the members listed side by side, are the same as in 1990, but this version plays more songs from the album, and Metheny introduces them in the middle of the show, so it's more like "Question." It's the perfect live album for "And Answer."Before the final song, "All the Things You Are," Roy Haynes sings a little as a courtesy (or rather, he is forced to sing by Metheny). Kenny Rogers' "The Gambler" is charming, tasteful and great. After that, they played the final song of the main program, and for the encore, they played a masterpiece of jazz by Herbie Hancock, "CANTALOUPE ISLAND," which made you wonder how many guitarists there were.This recording was previously released as the 28th, but it was released on the 27th.
