Description: Nice Pair of Owens / Empire Pottery Tiles from the Arts & Crafts era. Each tile measuring 3" x 3" and 1/2" thick. Both tiles are in excellent condition and signed EMPIRE on the back, although the letters are almost illegible. The matte purple glaze on the Monkey is curdled similar to the famous alligator glazes of Grueby.The other Gazelle tile is also done in matte glazes with glossy black perimeter.
