Raúl Lara Torrez (1940-2011) is a well regarded Bolivian painter and muralist, his work exhibits a high degree of social content and is associated with the Magic Realism school. Lara lived and worked in Argentina for much of his adult life, before the death of his brother at the hands of a death squad drove him back to Bolivia.
