Description: Kyoto Shoin (1989). Outsider Art: From the Outsider Archive, London. Kyoto-shi, Kyoto Shoin This is a short hard cover book full of wonders. The Outside Archive in London is an incredible collection of art by "Outsider Artists" that was formed after the seminal exhibition by the same title at the Hayward Gallery. I was fortunate to have seen this show and it changed the way I thought about art. This selection from the collection includes works in different media by some well-known artists in this genre such as Michel Nedjar and Johann Hauser and some less known but just as impactful ones. Each artist is introduced by a full page of biography and a small portrait followed by several full-color and often full-page works. Images are very vivid and striking. Text in Japanese and English Check out my other listings for the second volume in this set, other sources on outsider art, and works on world arts and cultures.
