Description: Antique Silver Repousse Betel Nut Box. I believe this dates to the mid 1800 from what I could find out from the former owner as it had been passed down over many generations. It is elaborately decorated in a deep repousse with six figures and ornate leaf and floral scrolling. The lid fits very tightly. The top and bottom edges have several ridges with a fine intricate rope beading. The lid is also very ornate with a foliate design and more intricate rope beading in concentric circles and there is a Sulemani Agate mounted in the very center. This box measures 3 1/2" in height by 3 1/4" in diameter. This box weighs 260 grams. Two of the faces on the figures are slightly dented and there is a little daylight showing where the box was joined on the interior. Please view and enlarge all photos to further aid in description.
