Spine has five raised bands with gold lettering. The front and rear covers have attractive gold designs. The covers are firmly attached with no cracking or splitting of hinges. The corners are worn and there is wear along the spine edges. Binding shows some general wear and rubbing but remains in good condition. All pages are clean and tightly bound (690 pages). There is some scattered foxing but most pages have none. The title page probably has the most foxing. Book has decorative swirling endpages. Previous owner name on second first page. Pages have gilt edge on all three sides. Book remains in overall good condition. It's a beauty! This is a terrific book to add to a collection! Great gift idea!
