Description: This beautiful piece of artwork is a one-of-a-kind monotype print signed by the artist, Alice Mostoff. The abstract design features an aerial perspective, in the Washington Color School style from the late 1900's. Original monotype, where the artist paints directly on a plate using inks, then transfers (i.e. prints) the image onto paper.Pencil signed in lower margin"Alice Mostoff", also numbered "1/1" and titled "Aerial #3" .The modern, medium gray metal frame is 19 1/4 x 23 1/4 inches. The print plate is 9 1/2 x 12 3/4, with off white mat under frosted, low glare glass.Print is hinge mounted using archival materials.All is in excellent condition, no significant issues, only minor toning mat and paper.Acquired from a private collector, who purchased in directly from the artist.NOTE: One of two similar works, each sold separately. About the ArtistAlice Mostoff (1932 - ) was born in Brooklyn New York where she studied speech and drama, with graduate work at Brooklyn College and the Brooklyn Museum. Her career as an artist began part-time but soon became her full time passion in the 1970s. In 1981 she opened a studio at the Torpedo Art Factory in Arlington, Virginia. She quickly became associated with the Art Factory and maintained a studio there for 25+ years. During this time period the influences of the Washington Color School, a combination of color field abstraction and hard-line abstraction, deeply influenced her work. This monotype is from that time.
