Original British Pattern 1796 Infantry Officers Piquet Sword Blue & Gilt Blade

Description: Original British Pattern 1796 infantry officer piquet sword with blue and gilt blade. George III royal cypher is englaved on one side of the blade. Gilt brass crossguard, silver grip and D-shape knuckle bow. Blade is bruised and pitted. Pommel nut is missing but hilt and grip keep together with a bit of movement. No scabbard. Good condition for it age. It is rare to see early 19th cen blade retaining a fair bit of its orginal blue and gilt decoration.
