This listing is for a nicely detailed original art pencil sketch AND a preliminary partial sketch by artist Robert Karsten. THIS DATA IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES: Karsten was born April 27, 1943 in Glen Cove, NY, and lived in York, Pennsylvania. His works have appeared on covers of national magazines and in juried shows as well as in public & private collections. He studied at Maryland Institute College of Art and worked as a college art professor for 15 years (School of Art at Louisiana Tech Univ.) He painted works that included varied railroad related train scenes, construction sites with big rigs & heavy equipment, many local York scenes, portraits, landscapes, etc. His works included oil paintings, pastels, and watercolors. Robert Karsten tragically ended his life in 1996, despondent over the death of his mother. Each piece is done on a tan sketch pad sheet, in very good condition, see photos. The sketch features an image of the U.S. Merchant Ship "Sunbeam" docked; signed on lower left Robert Karsten. And the second sheet features a rough preliminary sketch of the bow. Each piece measures approx. 24" BY 18". When item is packed SECURELY for shipping, it weighs 1 pound. Please see additional works by Karsten that I have listed.
