Perfect if you want to enhance the genetic vigor of your favorite varieties, add powerful antioxidants, or select from these seeds to create your own unique varieties (like gold corn, silver corn, black corn, green corn, painted corn, candy cane corn, etc). Or, do what we do, and keep diversifying the genetics even more every year. There are 3 options to choose from - dark, eclectic, or light. We do not just group all the light and dark seeds together etc. What we do is look for ears of corn that are predominantly light, predominantly dark, or a rough 50/50 mix of light and dark (eclectic) and those are placed into groups. So every choice will have light and dark seeds, it just varies by proportion. For example if you are looking for max antioxidants choose dark. If you are looking for mostly white and yellow corn pick light, and if you like the highest genetic diversity and adaptability, choose eclectic. We recommend you plant all 250 seeds in rich soil, cover with loose and light but thick (a few inches) mulch in spring (which is a natural weed suppressant) and then when the husks fully dry in the fall, harvest and continue drying on the cob to create next years seeds. Then when you have abundant seeds, select for traits you want, if you want to select at all. This way you have fully robust diverse genetics adapted to your very own climate and never need to buy seeds again!
