ONE VINTAGE RUSSWIN 1294 (later referred to as a P1294) MORTISE LOCK w/CYLINDER & KEYS and with STRIKEPLATE: 5 1/8" BRASS FACE (7409)Vintage: circa 1930: RUSSWIN # 1294 brass faced mortise lock with a new brass cylinder and two keys and with a brass strike plate! Interesting lock that has a flip switch on the front of the face that keeps the lock unlocked when engaged. Otherwise the door only unlocks by using the key. Probably used primarily on a storage closest door or perhaps a rear entry door. The body of the lock clearly maker marked RUSSWIN one of America's many high quality manufacturers of builder's hardware during the second half of the 19th Century and early 20th Century. The lock is reversible, fully restored and we have five identical available as the auction begins. Dimensions as follows: FACEPLATE: Heavy brass faceplate with a great patina, measures 5 1/8" long and 1 1/8 wide and 1/8" thick.. DROP: The drop ( the distance from the center of the knob post hole up to the center of the cylinder lock is 1 3/4". BOX: Box is 3 1/2" deep from the front edge of the brass faceplate to the back of the box and it is 3 1/4" top to bottom. SCREWS: Screws are on 4 3/8" centers. BACKSET: Backset (the distance from the front of the front plate to the center of the knob post hole) is 2 3/4". KNOB SPINDLE or KNOB SHAFT: The lock is made for a 5/16" square post shaft.CYLINDER & KEYS: Comes with one new brass Security Guard cylinder and two keys.
