He was born as the 12th generation of the family that was in charge of the Nishi Honganji Painting Studio in Kyoto City.After studying at the Kyoto City School of Arts and Crafts, he graduated from the Kyoto City Painting College in 1923.After graduating, he studied under Bakusen Tsuchida.In 1928, he submitted his Japanese paintings to the National Association of Japanese Painters and won the Chogyu Prize.The following year, in 1929, he founded the Kyoto Sosaku Hanga Association with Benji Asada, Takeji Asano, Tobei Kamei, and others, and won the Kokuga Award.He did a lot of creative work mainly in Kyoto and researched Buddhist prints.Around this time, Tomikichiro began making woodblock prints, and started the doujinshi ``Han'' with Unichi Hiratsuka and Shiko Munakata.In 1931, together with Asada, Asano, and Kamei, he published a collection of prints called ``Sousaku Hanga Kajin'' from Kiichi Uchida's Uchida Bijutsu Shoshi.He also started the magazine ``Taiwan Print'', which aimed to balance the popular appeal and artistry of prints, at the recommendation of Anmura Tsuchida.After World War II, he founded the printmaking studio ``Matsuku'' and trained apprentices.He began producing popular prints in 1968 and has held several solo exhibitions.In 1972, he created a collection of 12 prints of saints' footprints for Nishi Honganji Temple.
