Description: This is a colour map of Northumberland from the 1570's which as been taken very carefully from a book of maps printed in 1992. It is printed on good quality, glossy paper but as it is from a book it is on 2 separate pieces of paper. The join between the 2 pages is very good, check the photos for more details. The map is beautiful, the colours are vibrant and overall it's in very good condition. It would look fabulous framed. The map measures approximately 15" x 11.5" The map was originally produced by Christopher Saxton who was responsible for producing the first printed atlas of the English and Welsh counties in 1579. He had been authorised to survey the whole of England and Wales by Queen Elizabeth I, and considering the means at his disposal, his maps are not only extremely attractive but are also incredible accurate and well-produced. I have other maps for sale and will combine postage prices if you buy other maps. It has been kept in a plastic bag and will be sent to you in a card backed envelope.
