Description: FINE ART AUCTION Normal 0 21 false false false EN-US KO AR-SA Offering Rare fauvist Bronze Sculpture, signed, Henri Matisse with docs. …………………………...Description…………………………... Pure Original Bronze Sculpture – Woman posing – Femme couchée 21.00 x 17.00 x 8.00 cm Signed Henri Matisse in the bronze Very good condition Offering a pure bronze sculpture of a woman nude, posing, signed H. Matisse, in the bronze on the base. Female nudes and odalisques were the most popular subject of Matisse's Nice period, during the 1920s. They appear in diverse poses in innumerable canvases, drawings and sculptures: reclining, lounging, seated, or standing, frequently with their arms raised or folded behind the head. Matisse's primary model for these depictions, from 1920 to 1927, was Henriette Darricarrière, a young woman skilled in the arts of ballet, piano, violin, and painting who lived near Matisse's studio. The model's sculpturesque body, languorously stretching, exudes sensuality and carnality, enhanced by the pose of the sitter. The artwork comes with a registration certificate at National Fine Arts Title Registry, with a transfer of registry certificate to the new owner, transfer of ownership and a COA which came with the artwork when acquired. The artwork is offered and described in the documentation as in manner of the artist. The condition of the artwork is very good, as pictured, common aging of the paper can be noticed. The artwork is also stamped on reverse from the previous collection, and has a reference number marked on verso. …………………………. Henri Matisse ………………………... Matisse was one of the founders of Fauvism and a leader of 'Les Fauves', a group of artists who enjoyed painting pictures with outrageously bold colours. 'Les Fauves' believed that colour had a spiritual quality which linked directly to your emotions and they loved to use it at its highest possible pitch. The function of colour in their paintings was not to describe their subject matter, but to express the artist's feelings about it. Their ideas liberated the use of colour for future generations of artists who ultimately explored colour as an abstract subject in its own right. Matisse also understood that the more you reduced and simplified the drawing of an image, the more you could increase the expressive power of its colour. He would extract a few of the key colours from a scene and use them to intensify our experience of the subject. Matisse also realized that the simplification of his drawing and the looseness of his brushwork added to the joy and vitality of the work. . …. . …. Shipping We ship world-wide.
