This first edition of Louis Pasteur's Complete Works, compiled by his grandson Louis Pasteur Vallry-Radot (1886-1970), includes a portrait-frontispiece, 62 plates (some in color), and numerous black and white illustrations within the text. The volumes are paperback, partially uncut. Notably, they feature reprints of engravings based on the drawings of Peter Lackerbauer (1823-1872), particularly the exquisite plates in Volume IV that illustrate the Studies on Silkworm Disease. The collection comprises: Volume I, Molecular Asymmetry; Volume II, Spontaneous Fermentations and Generations; Volume III, Studies on Vinegar and Wine; Volume IV, Studies on Silkworm Disease; Volume V, Studies on Beer; Volume VI, Virulent Diseases, Viruses, Vaccines, Rabies Prophylaxis; and Volume VII, Scientific and Mixtures, Analytical and Synthetic Index of Pasteur's Work.
