The glassworks is the oldest in Finland still in operation. Founded and started in 1793 by Captain Jakob Wilhelm de Pont and Harald Furuhielm. Gunnel Nyman and Kaj Franck stand out among the many designers who have collaborated with the manufacture. Kaj Gabriel Franck was a famous ceramist and master glassmaker, a leading figure in Finnish design.
