Description: Noritake Oval Platter 13 5/8" X 10 1/4" Redlace w/Gold Japan 1920+ M-in-Wreath Exquisite Decorative Oval PLATTER 13 5/8" by 10 1/4", FLOWER SPRAYS & RED Band having FLORAL SCROLLWORK w/Gold Trim, REDLACE Pattern, from Noritake, Japan, circa 1920+ DESCRIPTION: This beautiful hand decorated oval platter was produced in the beautiful Redlace floral pattern w/wide red bands. This pattern is a colorful decoration. The design looks so classic. The floral bands are next to the rim while the center is the high white of the porcelain. The rim is trimmed in gold. This makes a beautiful display platter or can be used everyday as a functional piece. We have other Redlace pattern items in our eBay store. Please pay close attention to the pattern since Noritake has several slight variations of the Redlace pattern. CONDITION: While this platter is classified as used, the condition is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches or hairlines. There are no utensil marks & no wear to the gold on the platter. DIMENSIONS: The oval platter is 13 5/8" by 10 1/4". It has a height of 1 1/2". HISTORY/MARKS: Morimura Bros. formed the trading and decorating company in 1876 which evolved into Noritake. Noritake Company has a rich history of producing porcelain china all the way from January 1, 1904 when the Nippon Toki Kaisha Ltd - the forerunner to the present Noritake Company - was formed in the village of Noritake, a small suburb near Nagoya, Japan with its huge kaolin clay sources. The first reported U.S. registry for a Noritake backstamp for importing is 1911. The backstamp on this piece is the gold M-in-Wreath Mark with Noritake on the top. Under that is "Japan". In Collecting Noritake A to Z Art Deco & More, David Spain shows that Noritake substituted Japan for Nippon in their backstamps starting in 1918.
