Description: Here are rare color scenes of N&W steam from 1953 to 1958. This is rare color film footage now brought to you edited and transferred to DVD. N&W locations covered include the Shenandoah Division, Roanoke, the triple track Christiansburg Mountain grade, Shaffers Crossing and more. We'll see steam from many N&W classes: J Class, M Class and Y Class steamers are all shown, all with subtitles showing class and number of the locomotive. Included is the only known footage of the 1956 wreck of the 611 when she left the rails at speed, almost ending up in Tug Fork. Railfan, professional railroader and amateur historian Lee Avis shot much of this film. We are also indebted to John Lischke for the Roanoke 1958 footage and to William Spillan for the 1956 footage of the wreck of the 611. This is rare footage now brought to you edited and transferred to DVD. Shot on silent 8mm film and that is how it comes to you, backed with music, as silent "film" now on DVD. 8mm color and B&W film, silent with music. No narration/sound. 1 hour
