Description: Due to the increase in volume of packages being shipped through the US Postal System, shipping times have occasionally been longer than those estimated by either eBay or the USPS tracking tool. Carved natural quartz crystal rock in the shape of a skull. Makes a very cool looking paperweight. Checked with a gem tester and this tests in the quartz range. Has internal inclusions and fissures ... some that also extend to the outer surface of the carving.Some of the internal imperfections give off a colorful prism effectbreaking light into a spectrum of colors - this can be seen faintlyin photos #2, #11 and #19 and very faintly in photo #17.Some of the internal inclusions have their own colors ... a small area above the right eye socket has a reddish tinge (photo #15) and alarger area under the jaw has a yellowish tinge (photo #16).There is an internal fissure that extends to the left side where the teeth are carved and it makes a visible line throughthe teeth (shown in photo #18). On the underside of the carving, there are two areas that look as ifthey were chips or cavities in the quartz rock that have beenfilled with something less clear that the rock itself.Photo #20 shows the locations of these filled areas.Photo# 21 is a close up of one in regular lighting and photo #22shows this same area under UV light (it shows up better If the UV light is used in a darkened room). Photos #23 and #24 is the other filled area in regular and UV light.Neither of these spots are visible when the skull is sitting upright.
