I decided to start crafting these myself in my shop because I was tired of plastic handles breaking, lanyard holes wearing down because of no metal lining, and ferro rods coming loose from the handle on strikers I bought. My Ferro rods are reliable and will give you thousands of strikes. No machine processes here! Handle is Natural Canvas Micarta with a stainless steel lanyard hole. Canvas micarta is extremely durable and impervious to water and temperature. Rod is 3/8" in diameter giving more striking surface area than most other ferro rods on the market. Overall length is approximately 5" with a 3" striking surface. These measurements may vary somewhat due to the handmade nature of this item I carve grooves into the base of the rod itself and attach it with 2 ton epoxy, making these rods superior. It is highly unlikely that the rod will ever pull out of the handle due to the increased surface area for adhesion created by this process.
