Description: Perhaps one of the earliest depictions of fictional Native American Minnehaha. This vintage Undivided Back postcard from 1904 features Minnehaha standing near a tree and hand-made canoe near a lake. The Dakota Indian Minnehaha 'Waterfall' was the fictional love interest of Hiawatha in the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem of the same name. The coloring of this postcard is diverse and vibrant. The early morning sky displays a beautiful range of pastel hues. It APPEARS that this may be a hand tinted postcard, but it does not say this anywhere on the postcard. Please use your own judgement when bidding. This postcard from 1904 is published by the Detroit Photographic Company, and is one of their earliest postcard images of Minnehaha from what I could tell. This is perhaps the earliest Minnehaha has ever been the featured subject on any postcard.
