Description: The Woodstock Festival was held in upstate New York in 1969 and featured a list of bands that seemed never ending to me and lasted for 3 days. To me it was the start of the end of the flower power hippie movement and big outdoor concerts like Woodstock. There were a lot of things that went on behind the scenes and here is one. Just days before Woodstock began, organizer Artie Kornfeld struck a deal with Warner Bros. Studio to film the festival for possible release as documentary film. Director Michael Wadleigh, hastily assembled a crew, including future award-winning director Martin Scorsese, a recent New York University film graduate with only a handful of credits to his name. Over the course of three days, Wadleigh and his crew shot over 120 miles of footage, which Scorsese and others eventually edited down to three hours for release. The film went on to win an Academy Award and became one of the most profitable films of all-time, but Kornfeld’s deal, which gave financial control to Warner Bros., meant Wadleigh and Scorsese received little. There is some good live music on this album and gives you a feel for what it was like to be there. All my records I sell are original releases and I never sell rereleases or CD copies of the first one. Also all the records I sell were carefully handled by me only and were kept in near mint condition until I sell them. Some of the 50 year old album covers show some slight wear from sorting thru them but it is usually minor due to protecting them with a plastic cover. If you collect 60’s albums by bands like the ones that played at Woodstock and the Fillmore West and East, I will be listing more soon.
