Description: A visit to the world famous art museums is not a trip that most can take. However, here is an opportunity to walk through the pages of this coffee table book of the artwork on display at the Museo Del Prado. The Prado Museum officially known as Museo Nacional del Prado, is the main Spanish national art museum located in central Madrid. It is widely considered to house one of the world's finest collections of art in Europe dating from the 12th century to the early 20th century, as well as the best collection based on the former Spanish Royal Collection. Founded as a museum of paintings and sculpture in 1819, it also contains important collections of other types of works. The Prado Museum is one of the most visited sites in the world, and is considered one of the greatest art museums in the world. The photography found in the volume is brilliant, detailed and allows you, the reader, to get closer to the treasurers than if you were standing at the museum. Published in 1967 by Kodansha Publishing and printed in Japan, the volume consists of 184 pages . This volume is written in Japanese with each work of art also identified in English. The works are broken down into categories: i.e. Spanish SchoolNorthern SchoolsItalian School The Preface is written by F.J. Sanchez Canton and the Prado Museum and the Spanish Painting by Keizo Kanki The Explanation of Plates written by Itsuji Yoshikawa, Keizo Kanki and Mitsuru Sakamoto appears in the Japanese language only. At the conclusion of the book is a list of the plates displayed in the volume which is written in Japanese and English Measuring a generous fourteen by ten inches, each page is suitable for framing (in my opinion). The paper is a heavy gloss paper which shows no changes in color.
