Description: Musa thomsonii is a herbaceous tree in the Musaceae family. It is native to the Himalayas from northeast India to Yunnan, China. It can grow to 15 feet tall with a gray-yellow pseudotrunk. It likes full sun when young, then light shade after that. It requires good watering daily as this is a big eater. It is a fast grower. The flowers come out orange-yellow and turn red when the fruits are ripe. This species is relatively hardy but not as robust as the Basjoo or the sikkimensis species.
