Description: This is an original 1971 poster/handbill featuring the band Mudcrutch, started by the late Tom Petty. Mudcrutch was the precursor of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Tom spoke of them in his "Running Down a Dream" documentary, and toured with them in 2016. It is an extremely rare piece of music memorabilia for any fan of rock and pop, and a must-have for collectors. The poster showcases the band's name, as well as the date and location of their concert. Also included, as seen in the first photo, is a COPY (white) of the original hand drawn artwork from artist, Tom Vanek, as proof of authenticity. Measurements are 8.5" by 11". Tom Vanek's signature can be visible under the "e" in "Boogie." This is the only original of this poster I have, outside of the original artwork and one poster, of which I am keeping in my personal collection, as seen in photo two. Additionally, Mike Campbell sold a photo copy of this poster during one of his charities fund raisers. The copy noted 1 of 3 copies from the J. Bronson collection, originally created by Tom Vanek. I'm J. (Jeremiah) Bronson and was happy to work with TazzyFund to make the copy available for their fundraiser. I am a big Mudcrutch fan and collector! Please reach out to me if you have Mudcrutch items for sale or trade! Please check out my other auctions, as I am selling more great Tom Petty, Mudcrutch and Tom Vanek / Rose Community Center items! I acquired this poster from the estate of Tom Vanek. Mr. Vanek was an artist for Rose Community Center in the early 1970's and created posters for multiple well known bands including; Mudcrutch (Tom Petty), Goose Creek Synphony, Lynyrd Skynyrd (even before they settled on their "official" name), RGF (when I first asked about this band I was told it stood for Really Good Friends. I later found out the F had a variant depending on where they were playing.) Tom V. did the artwork for the famous Halloween Masquerade Ball starring Mudcrutch, and also the Gainesville Music Festival, which featured both Mudcrutch and Skynyrd. Tom V. graduated college and went on to be an architect. He kept a few original copies of the work he did while with Rose Community Center. He even kept the original giant Gainsville Music Festival poster's that stood outside the main entrance to the event (They were destroyed after his passing unfortunately.) Tom Vanek died on March 9, at his home in Redding, CA. I'm sad to say lots of Gainesville Rock history was lost with him, along with many amazing items from his collection from Rose Community Center. This item is perfect for framing and displaying in any music or entertainment collection.
