About the Artist: Josep Maria Morató Aragonès :Josep Maria Morató Aragonès (Reus 1923 - Barcelona 2006) was a Catalan painter born in Reus, In the village he was living in, around 1936, he met Ignasi Mallol , a professor at the Art School of Tarragona and Iu Pascual , who painted the Montsant. In accomplishing her task she allowed Morato to aid in the painting. In 1940, Iu Pascual encouraged him to pursue artistic tenancies, and so Morató Aragonès enrolled in the Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts. It was there he made friends with Bonaventura Puig Perucho, of which he considered himself a disciple. In 1950 he went to Paris, where he visited Pinacotecs and met many other talented artists. He traveled to Spain, and in 1954 he returned to Paris, where he consolidated his expressionist style . He exhibited mainly in Barcelona and Madrid, and in Reus, Zaragoza, Bilbao, and other capitals. He won several artistic medals, in Reus the Fortuny Medal, and took prizes in Mataró, Badalona, Morella, Sant Pol de Mar and others. His work style falls under the Abstract Cubist Modern surrealist works. His daughter, Maria Elena Morató, published the book "Dibujos" in 1989 , with a quality sample of the work of her father, the artist.
