Description: MONTBLANC Patron Of Art NAPOLEON BONAPARTE Limited Edition 888 - Fountain Pen Napoléon Bonaparte (1769–1821) was a great patron of the arts and dedicated a lot of attention to Neoclassicism, reviving of the Classical styles of ancient Greece and Rome in the European continent. Napoléon promoted artists to work in the Neoclassical style and built La Madeleine, Arc de Triomphe and other extraordinary objects.The overall design of the pen is inspired by the neoclassic style.The fountain pen is made of lacquer with platinum coated fittings and an Au750 solid yellow gold overlay. The decoration on the skeleton grid shows oak leaves to represent the strenght and longevity, olives leaves as a symbol of strength and victory and immortality as well as bees as a symbole to disconnect from Bourbons and link to Mérovingiens.The skeleton spiral on the cap and barrel is inspired by the original Colonne Vendome with the infinite role of the army.The decoration on the cap top pays homage to symbols from his reign: the coronational laurel crown, the imperial crown, the eagle. The cap is crowned by the Montblanc Emblem in Mother Of Pearl.The clip, decorated with a N, is inspired by a sword blade. The red clip stone pays homage to Josephine’s coronation ring.The cone is decorated with Napoléons bee and an Egyptian palm pattern from empire style.In homage to Napoléon Bonaparte, the handcrafted 18kt bicolor solid gold nib bears a portrait of Napoléon with the typical bicorn.Limitation 820/888 pieces.The concerned fountain pen comes in mint / full set condition.
