Description: A rare collector’s item showcasing iconic modern design – original architecture blueprints designed by architect Minoru Yamasaki. Sloan Dental Clinic in Detroit, Michigan, 1953. Leinweber, Yamasaki & Hellmuth Firm (1949-1955). The blueprints are in the original tube, which was given to the client, Dr. Joseph A. Sloan, from Yamasaki. The tube is a deep red color and embossed with Japanese symbols, a nod to Yamasaki’s heritage and background. The modest modernist building of 1,080 sq ft was constructed for practical use as a dentist office yet it encompasses forward-thinking design. Located on Detroit’s east side, the building is an early example of a project by Yamasaki during the post-war era when the city was growing and booming. These blueprints embody a symbol of optimism and the revitalization of design that was found in the mid-20th century. Most of Yamasaki’s original blueprints are in library and museum archives, so this is a unique opportunity to own a piece of modernist history. From a private collection in Southfield, MI. Minoru Yamasaki (1912-1986) was a Japanese-American architect, best known for designing the original World Trade Center in New York City and several other large-scale projects. Yamasaki was one of the most prominent architects of the 20th century. He and fellow architect Edward Durell Stone are generally considered to be the two master practitioners of ""New Formalism.” During his three-decade career, he and his firm designed over 250 buildings.
