REZENSION Considering the opening track of Kickstarter funded Mindless Self Indulgence album How I Learned To Stop Giving A Shit And Love Mindless Self Indulgence begins with vocalist Jimmy Urine screaming SON OF A BITCH!,it is safe to say that if you are easily offended or not a fan of immaturity then this album is most definitely not for you,nor is this band.MSI have a unique ability to tweak their style yet still remain completely different to everything else out there which is why their main core of fans are diehard lovers of the band,part of the reason they had no problem stumping up the $150,000 via Kickstarter to pay for this album.Jimmy,Steve,LynZ and Kitty show a lot of love for their fans and this was the ideal way to show how much we want them to carry on doing what they do best.The money seems to have been put to good use as they have put together a cracker of an album,sounding a little more polished with stunning synth partnering the vocal schizophrenia of Jimmy,this is a another welcomed evolutionary progression from a very special band.If this band went to a doctor they would be diagnosed with plenty of things but one word that comes to mind with this band is hyper,this album has a frantic pace that will have live audiences going ballistic.Songs such as Hey Tomorrow,F*** You And Your Friend,Yesterday and Stalkers(Slit My Wrists)are catchier than the cold while Anonymous and It Gets Worse sound like they could be from an early,much dirtier Dance Dance Revolution machine. From dishing out a hatred of the current rap scene on Kill You All In A Hip Hop Rage to a hilariously brilliant ode to ice cream,Ala Mode,this album really reflects everything you need to know about MSI,they are talented,fun and more than a little crazy.....what more could you ask for?
