Description: Comes with a certificate of authenticity from the estate of Red Adair. One of a kind. The ball was signed by Mickey Mantle in 1994 and was a gift the Red Adair. I remember he always had a lot of Oilers memorabilia and Astro's items but this was one of his favorites and why he jokingly added his autograph to it saying " well he was one of the best and I wonder what it's like to always be signing balls. I can not ever autograph parts of a rig or scrap from a rig. So I might as well sign this baseball to see what it's like ......". After he signed it he looked at me and said "I bet this ball is worth a lot of money. What if it is not worth anything now that I added my John Hancock to it .....wait I bet if John Hancock & Mickey Mantle had signed it that it would be priceless." He was the silliest joke teller sort of like a kid. He was so tickled with himself it was hilarious. So that's the story of the one and only Red Adair & Mickey Mantle baseball. As far as the history of the Mantle signature ...... It's as follows ~ This ball came from the last group of baseballs that Mickey Mantle signed. This is a Rawlings Official American League (Gene Budig) ball. Most of the baseballs that Mickey Mantle signed were OAL (Bobby Brown) balls. Gene Budig succeeded Bobby Brown as president of the American League on June 8, 1994, and Mickey Mantle passed on August 13, 1995. There was a very small window in which he could have signed a Budig ball making these baseballs highly collectible and valuable.
